Wild Flower Teasel

Wild Flower Teasel

Wild flower Dipsacus fullonum is better known as the humble Teasel. This statuesque, thistle-like biennial makes an architectural feature at the back of borders. In its second year, the stiff upright stems are topped with prickly domes of tiny purple-blue flowers. The blooms provide a valuable source of nectar for pollinating insects, and later as the seeds form, they will attract goldfinches to the garden. A fabulous addition to a wildlife garden, where it will self-seed to form attractive drifts. Teasels are undemanding plants, thriving on most soils including heavy clay. Height: 1.5m (5'). Spread: 45cm (18").
